Disscussion web starting over

My web host recently fixed a problem on their server that caused my
FrontPage discussion page to misbehave. The error message was:
CANNOT CLOSE FILE "SERVICE.CNF"
I no longer get that error. But it seems that web has lost count of the htm
page count. If I create a new post the htm for that new post is something
like 00000003.htm instead of a much higher number like 00000090. (some are
hex numbers) It seems to be overwriting the previous file with that same
name.
When I reply to this new post it is merging or appending the new reply to
the old file that had the previous file name. When I look at that old file
it also shows the new appended results.
It looks like the web has lost track of the ascending file name number and
has started over.
I hope this makes sense. My host is working on this problem but they are not
FP people. Any help I can get her would be appreciated.
Thanks

That's a general problem w/ the FP DW
- your host apparently removed / reinstalled the FP SE, that has reset everything and your existing DW may not be salvageable

Try opening it and running a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
- if that doesn't work, archive it and create a new one

Recalculate did not help. But thanks for your reply. I was hoping that there
was some sort of counter that determined what the file name of the next post
or reply would be. And that this counter counted upwards much like a hit
counter. And that this counter could be manually set to be whatever...
Again, like a hit counter can be manually set. Looking around at all the
files I do not see anything like that. At least to my eyes. Will give my
host till Monday and then try to manually archive all the existing files and
start over.
