distorted backgrounds in powerpoint

Powerpoint presentations and templates made in office 2000 powerpoint show a
distorted background, horizontal lines in another color, when opened with
office 2003 powerpoint. Is anybody able to give Me a solution for this
problem?
In My office we have a lot of older templates and presentations it would be
helpful to learn about a solution that does not involve changing the
backgrounds of all templates.

Have you applied Service Pack 1 to Office 2003?

Yes service pack 1 is installed on all computers in the office and still it
comes up the way I described

Since you use the plural and say that it happens with multiple presentations and
templates, I would try lowering hardware acceleration and also check for video
driver updates.
