distribution list emails are sent twice

When I send an email using a distribution list, it is received by all members
twice. I do not see it sent twice in the sent items folder. I can find
nothing that even gives the option of sending it twice.
This does not happen to regular emails. Outlook is checking two separate
email addresses when I hit 'send and receive' but is only sending through one.
Anyone have any ideas?
