Distribution list hangs on bad address

I've found that my distribution list will stop sending upon the first
invalid email address it encounters.

Say I've got 1000 entries and #500 is an old email like (e-mail address removed),
but Bob doesn't work there any more so (e-mail address removed) is invalid.

My list will send out fine to 1 through 499, but when it hits 500 I
get a returned error "unknown recipient" and the list just stops
sending. 501 through 1000 never get sent.

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone know how I can get around
this? I can't keep deleting invalid addresses every time someone
changes their email.
