Distribution Lists - How Can I Send an E-mail to only SOME of the Members

I have made up a distribution list. It gets
automatically filed in the individual Contacts, and not
in the Folders. Then, when I want to send an e-mail to
some (many of a few) of the names on that list, I can't.
How can I do this, and also have the list return to its
original members after I use it for this one e-mail?

With Outlook 2003, the way I did it was this: I opened a new maessage
window and clicked the To: button. I browsed to my Contacts folder and
selected the distribution list. I then clicked "To" and OK. Now I was back
at the new message window. My distribution list is in the To line and has a
plus sign to its left. I clicked the plus sign and was told that OL would
expand the DL. I clicked OK, Now my To line has all the individual
members' addresses in it. I deleted those I didn't want and sent the
message. This did not alter the original distribution list at all.
