distribution lists in outlook

I have been using a DL in outlook for quite a while and now all of a sudden
outlook has decided to throw "The name has been deleted and it is no longer a
valid
entry" this error message at me.

I have tried to recreate a new one several times and I keep getting this
error message. I have deleted the addresses and entered them new and still
get this message.

I get the message when I enter the first letter of the DL in the To: and the
drop down menu comes up for me to choose. The name shows up and I select it
and it enters along with the +. If I go to my list of contacts and choose
the DL and click on the + it expands the list and then the next time if I
just enter the first letter of the DL and click on the + it will expand it
but that is all. The next time I try I get the error message. This is very
frustrating as it was working fine and has been and without warning it just
went into this error mode.

I would really like some help and any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

PS- I for to mention that this all happened as I was sending out emails and
had sent several to this particular DL and then I initially received an error
message that read from Microsoft Office Word "An unexpected error has
occurred". Then all the trouble with the deleted and no longer valid entry
messages.

Sorry, should have mentioned this first.

Have you tried using Categories instead? Assign a category to the members
of the Distribution list. Then display your contacts by category, drag that
category to the in-box and you have your new message with the members in the
TO: field. You can cut/paste to put them in the BCC field if you wish.

Or even better, use a mail merge for personalized messages.

Hi Milly,
Thanks for your response. Yes, I have those in that DL list in a category.
The DL list that I'm referring to is "Family". That way I didn't use to have
to go through and click on individual names. It was working fine until I
went to send the next one and that is when the Microsoft Office Word error
message that an unexpected error has occurred came up. From there when I
choose Family in the To: after entering the first letter "f" and try to send
it is when I am getting the
"The name has been deleted and it is no longer a valid | entry" error message.

It has been working just fine then suddenly decided it didn't like something
as I didn't change a thing. I was in the middle of catching up on my emails
and had sent several using the Family DL prior to getting the message that it
was no longer there or valid.

This is what has confused me. I then went back and created another one,
only to receive the same messages.

But yes, I had caterogized them initially before creating the family DL.
