Distribution lists

Danny Haigh

I have created a distribution list which contains 19 names. All the names
were ADDED rather than selected. When I compose a message and use the
distribution list, however, only 15 names show up on the email message.
Everytime I edit the distribution list, I can see ALL the names; but there
are always four missing when I expand the list in TO: on the message.
Anybody have any help for me? Thanks, Danny

Provide your Outlook version.
Explain what you mean by "added rather than selected"
Clarify where these Contacts reside and how they were created.

Russ, you replied to Danny that distribution lists are notoriously
unreliable. Yikes! I have been using them for ages without problems (I
guess). Anyway, the question then is, what's a person to do? Is Outook
2003 any better (that's what I'm using now). I would hate to have to drag
50 names into the TO box three or four times a day when I send out emails to
all our members.
Also if a distribution list is created by using existing contacts, would
that be more reliable?

A DL created from Contacts that reside within a Contacts Folder is more
reliable, but only just.
Most of us have given up on DL's and use Categories or separate Contact
subfolders to group Contacts instead.

Thanks, Russ, this is good to know. Is it possible to print the master
category list (or my custom one)?

Also, after I've got 35 people associated with a certain category and I want
to change all of them (or most) to another category, can I do that in one,
large operation, or do I have to open each contact individually to make the
changes?

Thanks, Jeannine
