Running Windows XP Pro Sp3, Office XP SP3, Frontpage 2003 SP3 and IE 7,
logging onto a Windows 2003 R2 Standard DC Server with Microsoft Windows
SharePoint Service 2.0 SP1

when I try to select Edit spreadsheet or document for the site I get this
message

Edit document requires a windows sharepoint service compatible application
and microsoft internet explorer 5.0 or greater.

Found many articles about owssupp.dll
Well I have two of those files on my computer
c:\program files\microsoft office\office10\owssupp.dll
c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\owssupp.dll

I checked the office install shows I have the sharepoint services run from
computer selected

ran regsvr32 owssupp.dll /u unregistered the dll

renamed the owssupp.dll to owssupp_disable.dll in the folder office10

then ran regsvr32 owssupp.dll from office11 folder and the dll failed to
register

so i renamed owssupp_disable.dll in opffice10 back and registered it again

when I try to edit a document with owssupp.dll registered I get this error
from IE7 and then IE 7 closes
