Do I need to have Office 97 loaded before I can load the Upgrade .

I really don't want to "upgrade" from Office 97 to Office 2003. Can I just
load the Upgrade version of Office 2003 without loading Office 97 Pro? I
haven't had much luck with upgrading other Microsoft programs (lots of
crashes post upgrade). Thanks

Yes, as long as your have your Office 97 CD. When the Office 2003 upgrade
installer asks for a qualifying product, insert your Office 97 CD and browse
to it. Office 2003 will accept the qualification and continue the
installation.
