Do I need Visio Pro or Standard to draw electronic circuits?

I need to decide between Visio 2007 Standard and Pro version. The app will be
used mainly to draw electronic circuits.

The MS Visio comparison page
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio/fx102144891033.aspx#ee) says only
Visio Professional supports Electrical Engineering drawings (which I believe
also includes electronic circuits).

However, so far I have been successfully using the Visio 2003 Standard to
draw electronic circuits. It works fine with using component shapes from
Stencil, connecting them, defining custom properties and finally generating
Bill Of Material lists (by using Visio Reports function).

So, are there any extra useful features of the Pro version, which would
justify the price difference between those two versions?

Visio Pro comes with stencils for electrical eng. and electronics, 3rd party shapes are
available that work with either Visio Standard or Pro. Some of these may already have
custom properties defined as well as offering more variety than the built-in shapes.

Thanks Paul,

Apart from the built-in Stencils, is there any other difference between
Standard and Pro when it comes to draw an electronic circuit?

Won't I miss anything else if I buy the Standard version and 3rd party
Stencils?
What about shape handling or extra functions?

Thx
Piotr

v2007 went back to the original coding model in that some advanced features
are in the pro version and not in the standard version. The ability to
easily link external data to shapes is in the pro version.

What about connecting the shapes together, defining custom properties and
generating reports - are these features still available in Visio 2007
Standard?

Thx

Those haven't changed,

Microsoft visio shapes in Visio 2007 helps you quickly implement new
services as well as easily move, add, and make changes to existing
ones. Visio 2007 download gives a wide range of templates, including
logical, physical, rack, process, and asset diagrams help you
visualize processes, optimize systems, track projects and resources,
and resolve problems quickly. With Office Visio 2007, you can also
visualize security issues on network diagrams. In addition, the Visio
Toolbox Web site delivers more Visio tools, best practices, and
reference materials to maximize your investment and simplify
processes.
