Do Not Hyphenate - Make Default For Certain Words?

B

Bright Spark

Need some help again, please! Using Word 2003 still -- I know that I
can use the Tools-Language-Set Language-Do Not Check Spelling or
Grammar to stop the hyphenation feature from hyphenating words I don't
want hyphenated (like proper nouns, etc.), but is there a way to
instruct Word to NEVER hyphenate those particular words so that I
don't have to use that "Do Not Check Spelling .. etc" command every
single time. For instance, I don't want the word December hyphenated
- can I input some kind of permanent command that it will never
hyphenate that word, or do I have to keep on "fixing" it every time it
comes up?

Thanks so much if you have any answer.

The only solution seems to me is to create a macro command, with a keyboard
key assigned to it, that runs that command string. Then save the macro into
the 'Normal' template.

HTH:) and sorry for late reply.

Thank you. As it seems so much with Microsoft Word unfortunately -
it's just another one of those things that is way too complicated and
too much trouble to handle just a simple word-processing thing. I
keep forgetting it's not really a word-processing program!! LOL!

You are welcome.

To simplify insertion of these words, you could create formatted AutoCorrect
entries with a no-proofing style already applied.

Thank you. There is a lot of good information in that link.

I must admit I haven't tested with a formatted AutoCorrect entry, but
there's no good reason why it shouldn't work. :)

The exact link is
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/MasterSpellCheck.htm#ExemptingText, and I
considered whether it would be possible to save a formatted AutoCorrect
entry, but I wasn't sure whether that would work or not.

Thank you - I'm going to try it - seems to me there's no good reason
it wouldn't work as well!
