Outlook 2000 - other users in my dept can read my email - is there a way (in
MY settings) to prevent the messages being 'marked as read' if someone else
reads them?

No. Tell them to mark items as unread when they're done.

Tools->Options->Other->Preview Pane. Uncheck all marking of items as read,
either when moving to the next unread item or after xx seconds.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
