.Doc file Converts to a Data File when recipient Recieves

Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me. I have a user that is having a mail
problem however; I have not been able to replicate it. When the user sends
emails to certain contacts in their address book. When the recipient receives
the email it's a data file even though when the file was sent it was an .xls
file or a .doc file. Has anyone seen this before? I have looked threw a lot
of the user groups and have not been successful with finding a solution.
Please let me know.

Have that user change the format of their messages from Rich Text to either
plain text or HTML format.
