.doc files won't open in Word

When I click a .doc attachment in my Juno e-mail or a .doc
file at other locations on my computer (Win98 OS), MS Word
won't open and display the file. I have reinstalled borth
Juno and Word 97 and still have the problem. Any
suggestions?

SO what does happen? Does Word launch without the document? Or do you get an
error message?

When I click on a .doc file or .doc attachment, the Word 97 logo panel flashes momentarily, then disappears, and Word doesn't load. I can open Word from the desktop icon and then access my .doc files from File/Open, but clicking on the files themselves from the folders in which they reside won't launch Word and open the file unless I already have Word program open by launching from the desktop icon. My OS is Win98.
