DOC to PDF: No Hyperlnks in PDF

I have been succesfully printing to PDF from Word X in OSX 10.3.
However, I've noticed that hyperlinks are not preserved in the PDF
output. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

When I used OS 9, I had a printer app that allowed you to insert
hyperlinks: PrintToPDF,
