DOC to PDF Something is Screwy...

J

JESwan

I have adobe 6.0 pro, Office 2003
I need to convert doc's to pdf's.
Adobe (help) notes I should see a grapic that will save the doc to a PDF on
my tool bar, I can not find it (Looked on all tool bars)
When I open Adobe and browse to a DOC and open it, it pops on the screen
(Adobe application) for about 3 seconds then ZAP it's gone never to be found
again..
Thanks in advance

You don't need a toolbar button.

File - Print - change your printer to the Adobe distiller.

I tried that but used the 'Save to File' and it did not save it to a PDF.
But without selecting that it worked fine..

Thank you...

Office 2003 does not allow you to save as a .pdf. That's part of the ongoing
issue with Microsoft and Adobe in the upcoming Office 2007. Until then, you
have to print it to a .pdf file.

OP has Adobe 6.0 Pro, and it does integrate into Office 2003.

I have Acrobat Pro 7 and you can't save as a .pdf. You print to a .pdf.

I understand. Mine converts it to PDF with a command on the menu. I don't
have to use File | Print. It saves it as a PDF. I'm not at my office
computer right now, but I believe it says PDF Converter 7 or words to that
effect.

I'm still behind the times using Office 2000, but even in that I Print
to pdf then when Acrobat opens, Save as...

J

JoAnn Paules [MVP]

Nope, you print to Acrobat, and depending on your settings, it may or may
not prompt you for a file name or open Reader. It just does it. No Save As
involved.

Some people are unaware of how you create .pdf files so part of the reason I
tend to be very picky about my phrasing is so that if there's a lurker who's
having the same issue, they might be helped by the info. ;-)
