Docking the Formula Bar

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Previous discussions about this topic were in 2008 and I wonder if they have already come up with a solution for this. It's so hard to work when the formula bar is floating and disappears when I open other applications of the toolbox like the formatting palette.

The behavior of the Formula bar is no different than in the previous
version... It's only in the PC versions that the FB is anchored in a
document window. That is a difference between the Mac & Windows operating
systems. It isn't something that there is a "solution" for.

You can Dock the FP at the top of the screen directly beneath the main Menu
Bar if you drag it by the "tab" on the left end - go fairly slowly & you see
it "snap" into the docked position.

FWIW, the FB isn't anchored in a document window in the PC version,
either.

It's anchored in the *application* window. You can have multiple
documents (workbooks) in the same application window, but there's only
one Formula Bar.

The big difference is that in the Windows OS, you can have multiple
instances of XL running.

That's true -- thanks for the clarification.

WRONG, you might be thinking of the tool bars. The tool bars are not dockedbut the formula bar that usually sits at the top of the spread sheet and shows the text in the selected cell WAS docked. It is extremely annoying when it is floating. Please give clear instructions on how to fix it.
