Some search engines require a doctype at the beginning of
the default page, which is not there on FP pages. How do
I find out what Doc type FP uses and get the HTML to
insert it

FrontPage doesn't really use a DOCTYPE, but there are a couple of ways you
can add one yourself. For FP2000/2002 & 2003, you can do this:
