Hi,

I can only connect to MS Live Workspace, not Sharepoint. This option is grayed out. Why is that?

Thanks and regards,
TP

btw I like this service pack, Word / Excel are much faster.

Did you click on Add a location to add a sharepoint server?

Yes. Both the menu item (Location - Connect to a Sharepoint site) and the menu from the toolbar button (Add location - Connect to a Sharepoint site) are grayed out.

Weird. Is this maybe because I use student/teacher edition? It seems a strange restriction to me.

They're not greyed out for me. I can add a server there.

No idea. It's true that I have the "full" version though,

Corentin

Though: I tried connecting to Office Live and it times out
systematically.... Did anyone manage to connect to Office Live?

Exactly the same greyed out thing here. I also have the student/teacher edition. It would be an absurd restriction if this is the problem as Microsoft are trying to push schools into using their software for learning platforms.

Ok, I uninstalled the "Home and Student" version and tried with the
"Standard" version. Seems to fix the problem. The sharepoint menu item isn't
grey anymore...

Blast. Well, that solves the issue.

It might have helped if MS had included this info in the helpfile...

Thanks for your help!

I've had confirmation from my contacts at Microsoft. Like Exchange
support, SharePoint support is only available in Office 2008 Standard
and Special Media Edition. Home & Student versions can only access the
Office Live servers.

Hello ... I am using Sharepoint Services 3.0 and I am still getting this error. However, I only get the error when outside the Local Network, but I am able to log on to the sharepoint website when outside the Local Network.

Maybe ports being blocked?
