Document Format Changes When Opening in Different Version of Word

P

Peter Amirault

Can anyone explain to me why a file created in Word 2002
(on an XP Operating System) opens up drastically
different on other operating systems and older or newer
versions of Word?

Pretty much everything changes throughout the file. Any
assistance is grealty appreciated.

Most commonly, it means you've used a font that isn't available on the other
machines. Word substitutes another font, which might have very different
metrics.

Conceivably it's to do with printers. Word's page layout is partly
determined by information provided by the printer set-up information. If
that is somehow unusual on your machine and standard on all the others ....
