Document Imaging Viewer

One of my clients (who does not own Office 2003 or Office XP) is trying to
open a TIF from one of their suppliers that was created with Microsoft
Office Document Imaging.
We have tried numerous viewers including IrFanView without success.

Is there a free (or low cost) viewer available that will open these TIF's?

Thank you in advance.

I (and others) who own Office 2003 can read it.

Unfortunately, the client owns multiple copies of Office 2000 and has no
reason to upgrade.
He has several employees who need to read the TIF and is having difficultly
justifying the upgrade (even for one copy) in order to be able to read the
TIF.
I cannot locate a FREE viewer at Microsoft and any that I have downloaded so
far such as IrFanView are not successful.

The client is getting desperate.

In that case you should have an error message, I suspect that the "tif"
has been "edited" and the "other image programs" don't know what to do
when they hit the editing. Make sure the file has "annotations made
permanent" and under compression in Options that you are using
compatible compression. Please understand that "tif" is not a
single/universal format, but a generic name for what could be dozens, so
maintaining compatibility is the responsibility of the user.

We have no control over how the originator is creating the TIF.
He is saying that my client is the only one who cannot read the TIF.
It is possible, of course, that his other clients are using the Document
Imaging within Office 2003.

I will pass on your suggestion to my client who will forward it to the
originator.
I really appreciate the info.
Thank you.
