I just installed office 2003 on a win XP pro OS
Every word doc I try to open (local and network) it gives
me the error
The ms word document is not available
When I try to close the error window tries to save as a
template

I try to open an excel sheet it gives the error
The file cannot be opened because your virus scanner had
detected a problem with the file
Norton is disabled
Worked fine in office XP and I can open the same doc's or
excel sheets on other computers running office 2003
I have uninstalled and reinstalled
Any one have any clue ?????
Thanks in advance

Open Norton Anti Virus and disable the Office Plug-in under advanced
Options.

Here is Office MVP Beth Melton's explanation:

If Norton AV was installed at one time then the DLL for the Office
Plug-in could still be registered.

Search for : officeav.dll

If you find it then go to Start/Run and run the following command:

regsvr32 /u "<path>\officeav.dll"

Here is a KB article that provides a few additional details. It does
not include information on Norton CE but it will contain additional
details on the unregister command if you need them:
