document locked for editing by *blah-blah*

We have some documents residing in a shared environment and on occasion one
of the documents will get stuck showing a user still has it opened when then
pc is shut down. Is there a way to unlock this document with a tool or
anything??

Jeremy,

Have your Systems Administrator go to the server and release the
lock on the file with in the share. We use Windows 2000 Server and
this can be accomplished through Computer Management (Administrator
Tools) or Server Manager on Windows NT 4.0. Basically since the user
crashed the server retained the lock on the file as you have stated
below.
