Document locked

Have Office 2000 Pro. Since someone sent a .docx in Office 2007 to me, my
2000 doesn't let me work on any of my own documents. Comes up with ' this
modification is not allwed because document is locked.' Can't get into
protect document in Tools. It's driving me crazy. Please advise!

Thanks, Mary. Before I received your response, I took a chance and did a
repair of Office 2000. That seems to have corrected my problem. But I suppose
it may happen again if I receive a 2007 .docx, so I should also do the
compatibility tool. ??? Thanks.
