Really depends on need.
In my case, no other program really provides what I needed or what I was
capable of doing. Now there are many programs that can do standard office
documents and make great indexes with document preview but I wanted
something my way. So, if you want something your way, or after research you
don't find something within your price range and expertise, Access is a
great solution. Can it do it, yes and more! Now do you have the time and
need, only you can decide. Access is only limited by your imangination and
time to roll what you want. Me, I think Access is a fantastic program to
build what I wanted but if I was building it for a large Corp, I would
probally hire an MVP or buy something off the shelf to make it happen.
