Word 2000/Windows 98

When opening some but not all documents, we get this
error message.

The Knowledge Base had some info on this that applied to
Word 2002 only.

Any help on what is causing this and how it can be fixed?
Is the problem in the documents themselves or in the Word
program?

Would a reinstall fix this?
Help would be most appreciated.

Hello Carolyn,

This error happening in Word 2000 is most likely caused by the files that
you have open at the time. Are these files from a single source? They are
possibly from earlier or later versions of Microsoft Word. Issues that that
can cause this error because of the file are file corruption and saving the
file to a drive with very little space such as a floppy disk. Some things
that you can try would be to save the file as a Word 6.0/95.Doc and then
open it in 2000 again. This would possibly remove corruption in the
document. If you have access to Word 2002 or 2003 system you can open and
repair the document with that version and then bring it back to the Word
2000 machine. You can rename your Normal.dot file and then open Word and
test the file, sometimes corruption in Normal.dod can cause issues.

I hope this helps.
