"document not saved"

R

Ruffy

My users are working with a 4-5 mb excel file that they cannot save on their
mapped network drive. It starts saving and then they get the "Document not
saved" msg. The only workaround that works is to save it on the local drive
and then copy it using windows copy paste etc
I have checked the following:
-The drive is not full
-They have full control on their mapped drives
-I have disabled the antivirus
-I have tried "save as..."
-I tried saving as in xl97 format (the spreadsheet was written in 97)
-I have used different workstations
-I have used different usernames.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

workstation: win98
excel: 2000
server: win2003

I experienced this problem a lot when we were having lots of troubles with
network hits at work. When I opened a Excel file and did a little work on
it and during that time there was a network hit, Excel could not be saved at
all, either back where it came from, nor as a "save as"...........the only
thing I could do was to copy my new data over to a new workbook and then
close and re-open and copy the data back in........then save
QUICKLY........but it didn't work with links, I had to re-establish them
each time, so I just got to where I save after entering every record, so
when the hits occur, I only lose a "little" data entry...........
