Document numbering incorrect

When opening MS Word, (Word97 running under XP) it is
opening with Document5 instead of 1. Not running Word Mail
or anything like that. How do I reset this value? Deleting
normal.dot doesn't do it.

Restarting Windows should clear the problem, but you also need to clear out
the temp files that are causing it. See
