Document scanning: why does my black and white document turn out .

I'm trying to scan a black and white text document using MS Office Document
Scanning. Selecting black and white results in black background with white
text. Color, grayscale work fine.

Sounds like the scanner settings are set to invert for B&W, so check
them first.
