Document scanning with office 2007

Hi
I activated my document scanning and imaging function from control panel
after installing office 2007. However, the scanning program crashes soon I
press scan button. I have Office 2007
running on XP OS.
I cannot also run the OCR with this. Contacting the OCR vendor ABBYY learnt
that the issue is with Office 2007 SP1.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
