Document sent from Word not in Sent Items?

I have a user that says he sent a Word document that doesn't show in Outlook
2003 Sent Items folder? He says he can't remember if he chose "send to >
mail recipiant," or chose "send to > mail recipiant as attachment?"

He now thinks my E2K mail cluster is at fault! Ever heard of such a thing?
