Document_Open Event Handler Procedure via Intranet

Hi everyone. I have an odd issue related to the Document_Open event handler
procedure for a document posted to our company intranet.

Upon opening the document, the procedure does not run. This is the case when
opening both within Internet Explorer and within Word. However, if the
document is first saved to the network or local drive, then reopened, the
procedure will run.

This confuses me, since Excel handles the Workbook_Open event handler
procedure as it should from the intranet, but Word does not.

By the way, this occurs in both Word 97 and Word 2003.

Anyone know of a work-around for this? TIA
