Documents always in upper case

I have a problem w/ Word where no matter what I do it
doesn't seem to want to change to lower case. I tried to
go to Format, Change case and change to lower case, but
when I click OK and go back to the document, it goes back
to upper case. I thought maybe the normal.dot was
corrupted and I need to replace it, however I can't seem
to find it to delete it so that Word can create a new
one. Any help as to whether this is the problem and how
to find normal.dot would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
in advance. Also, I have Word 2000 on XP.

Check that your font isn't set to use the "Small caps" or "All caps"
property.

To add to Mike's answer, make sure the font is not a CAPs only font.
