Documents are password protected

I have had 3 different people who have had problems with
a document becoming password protected without their
knowing how it happened. Is there a bug in Word 2000
that causes this to happen? Also, is there a way to take
the password protection off? Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

These are not forms. They don't have form fields in
these documents. I tried that and it had the box greyed
out.

There's a friendly (but old) macro virus that does just that. Have you
scanned your network with an up to date virus scanner?
