Documents search for Printer while opening

Hi,
This is a very annoying problem that whenevrv I try to open a office
document it searches for printer connections. It is not much of a problem
while working on LAN (100 Mbps). But when I try to connect through VPN I find
it extremely difficult to open any MS Office document.

Please let me know whether there is any way to disable automatic search for
printers while opening a document
