Documents written and saved in UK English keep turning into US En.

I've got "check for lanuage" swithced off and I keep resetting the default
lanuage to English UK. In control panel my machine is setup as English UK.
When the files are opened on other computers on my network, they open as
English UK. It's just on my machine that they somehow keep turning into
English US documents when I open them. This messes up my spelling and the way
dates are presented. It is really really annoying!

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can stop it?

Many thanks,
Paul.

When you say you checked in the Control Panel, I presume that you mean the
Regional & Language Options applet? I also presume this is Windows XP and
Office 2003 with all the updates.

Have you been into Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office, Office Tools,
Office 2003 Language Settings and checked that the default is set to English
(UK)? Whilst there, if you never use any other language, uninstall the any
other language (especially English (US))!

Now open Word and go to Tools, Language, Set Language, select English (UK),
make sure that the check boxes are unchecked and press DEFAULT. Close Word.

Now Word should hold English (UK) but you may need to check any other
templates that you may use regularly and check that they are set to the
correct language too.

Also open Outlook and make sure that Tools, Options, Spelling is set to
English (UK).
