Version: v.X Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I read and read and just about confused as ever. I have word for mac v.X and trying to open a docx file. Now I have looked at your posts, go there and still lost. I will probably need someone to put a post where, if at all, can find a way to open these. help, billboy

Office v.X must be fully updated to 10.1.9 so if you haven't already done so
you'll need to apply that update first.

Also, that version of Office is restricted to Open XML File Format Converter
for Mac 1.1 - not the later releases (1.1.3, 1.1.4). On the page Patty
linked you to click on 'Additional Tools' at the bottom left in the
'Products' column.

Once it's installed you will still not be able to open .docx files using the
Open command from within Word. You'll need to convert them first, then open
the converted copy.

If this still doesn't answer your questions you'll need to be much more
descriptive of what you're 'confused' about.

Hmmm, that's interesting, Bob--the page I linked to is the download
page for 1.0.2. Did it come up as something different for you? But
the "Additional Tools" link offers 1.1, which, being more recent,
is probably a better version to use. Both of them require Word 10.1.9,
as you noted for 1.1. I wonder why they still offer 1.0.2 if the same
releases of Word X can also use 1.1.

Yes, the link does direct to the 1.0.2 version but as you point out 1.1.0 is
more current, so better to go right to it -- there is no prerequisite AFAIK.
As for the "wonder why"... I've asked that numerous times relating to
virtually every aspect of the Mactopia site :)
