Hi
I am using Office 2007 and most of the time i create a document using
Office, it is saved with a x at the end of the extention eg: .docx or .xlsx

Whenever i send these documents to other people, most of them are not able
to open them.
Is there a setting i can change or something else i can do to fix this or is
this part of Office?

Thanks for your help

The traditional extensions with an "x" at the end indicate Office 2007
format. Click on the Office icon and select "Save as" and you can save in
the prior Office format.

Click the big circle in the upper left of each program
(Word, Excel & PowerPoint) Click Word, Excel or PowerPoint
Options at the bottom of the window that opens. Click Save.
Change the file type of the save to Word... 97-2003. This
will default the three programs to save in a format that
other people can see with older versions of Office.

There is also a compatibility pack that the receiving people
can download and install onto their machines that will open
the files with the X extension. Search Microsoft for
compatibility pack. It has a program and also a service
pack.
