Does not bring up document

If I double click on a document, it brings up MS Word with a blank page
(new document).

This happened after I installed MS Word 2002 on my Win 2K system. Any
suggestions?

I get the same results: MS Word opens as a new document.

Baffling!

OK. A couple of suggestions:

1. Go to Customize (ctrl-alt-F8)->Keyboard->File->Filenew and clear any
shortcut key that may have magically appeared. (Note the shortcut for later
reassignment, if desired.)

2. Search for "customize how Word starts" in help and make sure that you
don't have the "/w" startup switch working against you.
