Does Outlook require Exchange Server?

After installing Office XP Pro and launching Outlook, I get jammed with a
popup stating it can't communicate with Exchange Server. Does Outlook require
Exchange Server??

No, Outlook does not require exchange server. Reconfigure outlook using
Internet Email method.

No, Outlook can handle POP3 and IMAP4 accounts as well. Use the Mail applet
in control panel to remove Exchange from your mail profile and add your
actual mail account.
