Does Sonia Coleman's MPP/Multimedia download apply to Windows XP?

I downloaded Sonia's tutorial on multimedia, hoping to solve my problem of
bringing video into my PP presentation. As I started reading, I see that the
tutorial is geared toward Windows 98/ME/2000. I have XP, and the instructions
on how to troubleshoot one's system don't correspond to the menus and files
that I have on my system. For example, the "test for compatibility using the
MCI Media Player" - When I click start and run, then type in mplayer.exe, the
system says that the file cannot be found. Then, if I open up notepad (as
directed) and look for the win.ini file, it cannot be found. I'm very
frustrated. Please help.

Use Start/Run and type in mplay32.exe

Look at the screen shots for the registry settings for WinXP as opposed to
the INI files.

To follow up for the original poster, Austin's tutorial (on Sonia's website)
has a section right after where it talks about the INI files where there are
images of the registry. The first one is labeled Registry Editor, and the
folder named MCI Extensions is highlighted. The paragraph right before it
says this:

Note: The above applies to Win 9X and ME systems. Windows 2000, NT, and XP
do not use the win.ini and system.ini files for these settings. Instead the
MCI settings are in the system Registry. To view your settings, go to
Start > Run and enter "regedit" (without the quotes) in the Open window and
click OK. Follow the paths below to locate the Registry information.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI
Extensions

You want to make your settings in your registry under that key look like the
picture on Sonia's site.

Then there's another key listed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI32 with a
smaller image underneath it. You want to make your settings for that key
match the image as well.

Hope that helps you understand better what I meant.
