Does the "New Mail Desktop Alert" actually open the email

Does the "New Mail Desktop Alert" actually open the email? When the alert
pops up does it actualy open the email to retrieve the part of the email that
it displays? If so, does this potentially defeat any antivirus software?

Hi there
Godo question, as far as I know then yes, if you click on the new mail alert
box then it will open the message concerned. As for it defeating Antivirus
then I think that your AV software checks it as it comes into the Inbox so it
would scan it before that new mail alert appears (I think that the mail would
have to be in the Inbox in order for the new mail alert to be
generated)...although I might be mistaken

Hope this helps

No. Unless you click on the desktop alert it won't open the message in any
significant way.
