Does this sound rather simple?

I am a newbie, and I am just learning how to work with Access. Does this
type of project sound pretty easy to do or accomplish?

I am a fan of Mixed Martial Arts (UFC, PrideFC etc.). There are fighters
and each fighter has a record of wins, losses as well as draws. I would
love to create a database for myself, which would be about fighters who
fight in professional MMA bouts. The db would record their record, and the
location at which the fight took place, i.e. MGM Grand, Las Vegas NV., etc.

Does this seem relatively simple for someone who doesn't have much knowledge
but would like to work with Access and learn by example?

It should be pretty straightforward. You'll need a Table for each type
of Entity: Fighters, Bouts, Locations, Fights. Each table should have
fields for the attributes of that type of Entity; e.g. Fighters would
have fields like FighterID (as its Primary Key), LastName, FirstName,
other biographical details. The table of fights would have fields for
the two participants, the ID of the Bouts table for the bout at which
the fight took place, the winner's ID. You would NOT store ranking or
the number of wins/losses in any table; it can be calculated as needed
using a totals query.

Quesiton for the FIGHTS table, would this table just consist of a
relationship to the FIGHTERS table (FighterID) instead of FighterName1 and
then FighterName1?

It seems that I would just kinda relate the FighterID since every fighter in
my db will have a unique FighterID. Therefore, if I wanted to say who
fought who in the FIGHTS table, I would then call upon the FighterID from
the FIGHTERS table?

It shouldn't have *either* fighter's name in it: instead it should
have two FighterID's in it for the two contestants. You'ld create a
query joining Fights to *two instances* of Fighters by FighterID, to
see the names of the two.
