doesn't anyone know photogalelry problem?

Doesn't anyone know or have experienced this problem
Hi I am wondering in the frontpage photogallery there are
not too many options when one selects the slide show
layout.

I want to have only 3 or 4 thmbnails displayed at
the top not 5 because(currently i have 6 pictures in
there) it pushes my page way out and then people who use
800 by 600 they have to scroll to see my page and i would
like to keep it in a range they can view but still use the
slide show option is that possible?

Plus whenyou get to the last picture you have to click
twice to see the last picture number 6 that is dumb.

Anyone know a way around this?

With that few images You might want to consider one of the other layouts
instead of the slideshow layout.
