Doesn't Outlook download mails from myself?

C

Claudius Iacob

I often send a message to my own gmail account using my PDA, or another
computer.

Back home, when I fire up Outlook, I would expect to see that message. Well,
Outlook doesn't download it, although I can see the message in gmail, via its
web interface.

Is there an Outlook setting that is responsible for this?

Many thanks

No, it is a setting in gmail that you need to change to allow gmail to download into Outlook.

are you using your gmail acct to send it? gmail is weird in how they handle
messages from the gmail acct - it treats it as a sent message only, not a
new incoming message.

Yes, I'm sending *from* [me]@gmail.com to sent *to* [me]@gmail.com. I only
have the gmail account set up on my PDA.

Thanks a lot for your answers. Maybe someone knows what can be changed on
gmail-side then?

P.S.: although, I remember that when I had my IPhone instead of this PDA,
this scenario worked: I was always receiving the emails I was sending to
myself, from the same gmail account.

Thanks again.

I don't think there is anything to change on the gmail acct - gmail has
always worked this way. Did you use IMAP or POP3 on the iphone?

I'm not sure... The IPhone automatically configured the gmail account for me.
I might try to switch to IMAP in Outlook, to see if this helps.

Thanks
