Domain Level Security Question

G

Gcleaves

I'm having trouble getting my InfoPath form to stop displaying that annoying
"May I Access Data on a Different Domain" pop-up. Why does it appear? All
of my data connections are to MS SQL servers *on the same domain* as the
workstations opening the form. Does 'domain' mean something different to
InfoPath than it does to Active Directory? If the workstation is
ws1.company.parent.com and the SQL server is sql1.company.parent.com, why am
I getting the 'different domain' pop-ups? Have I configured the data sources
incorrectly? They work fine otherwise.

Thanks

This is a setting in IE go into security and set the allow access data
sources across domains to enable this will sort you out if you are on XP SP1
if on SP2 then you need to add the UNC of your form to your list of trusted
sites as well to stop it popping up.

Another annoying microsoft security "feature"

But all the PCs are on the same domain. It just doesn't make sense. What's
going on here? I'm not going accross different domains.

I did make the security change you suggested and it has removed the annoying
pop-ups. Thanks. But I would like to get the definition of domain straight.

Well, thank you Adam for solving a problem I didn't even know I was going to
have yet, start teaching it in spring, won't install it on the server until
right before then. So here's thanking you for saving me a future migraine.

No worries

Much sweat and tears went into discovering that, if you want another one

on SP2 when forwarded an infopath form you get two warning boxes saying the
web site is using your identity to access data sources.( If you have
secondary data sopurces in your form) to stop these i think you have to have
your C drive as a trusted site. More fun and confusion from Microsoft.

YAY

Cheers Adam

Thanks again for the info, I'm sure I would have run across the
problem...you're great. Thanks for teaching the teacher...you'll make me
look like I know what I'm doing. I'll have to tell them though I have a
secret. Friends that know more than myself...which are many in this subject
anyway...thanks for being one and giving me more answers.
