Don't feel I should pay a bill because of a doctor's error

My doctor gave me medication that I was allergic to before I went into
surgery for my knee. I called the surgeons's office and the nurse suggested
to go to the emergency room, and I told him I wasn't going to pay it. She
suggested I call my Primary Care Physician which I did. Had I not followed
his instructions I would have ended up in the emergency room. I call the
surgeons nurse back and told her and she told me that the surgeon would call
me back. He did call me back, felt horrible about it. He admitted he did
wrong.
The nurses new it, it was circled in red on my chart and gave it to me anyway.
Now I received a bill, which I feel I should not have to pay because of his
error. I feel he should just write off. I don't feel we should pay the bill.
How can I write to him and tell him that I don't think it is right to pay
the bill or any continuing office visits.

Basically you repeat the process you used in composing the message you
posted here. You sit down at a computer, typewriter, or with pen and paper
and write.

I'm amazed at the versitality of the volunteer help on these forums!
It reminds me of a story I head while working at a print shop. The phone
number for another shop was similar to that of a local pizza shop. One of
the employees displayed 'going above and beyond' by taking the pizza order,
relaying that order to the pizza shop and delivering it in the printshop van.
