Don't see it in print

I have a report which I like to print which will show my y/n boxes with a
nice little checkmark in it on screen. But when I print it, the whole column
is blank, except for the title. Everything else visible on screen prints
fine. If I convert it to a Word doc or Adobe PDF it will print the checkmarks
then. What gives?
