I have a booklet of about 300 pages. The first couple pages I do not need
numbered. The actually book starts on page 11 so I want the pages numbers to
start counting from there, starting with ‘1’.

Select page 11
Insert > Section
Begin a section with this page
Start section with page number "1".

Ok…I tried this and it appears to be the idea of what I’m looking for. The
only problem is that each page of my booklet is 8 ½ x 5 (2 pages per sheet of
paper). The first page is on the left side and the second page is on the
right. The second page is where the actual writing starts. So the problem
is that I select the page that I want to start the second (page 11) but the
section keeps starting with the page on the left side (page 10) So the page
numbers show as #1 on the left side and #2 on the right side; the problem is
that the right side is where the book starts so I want the page number so be
#1. (you know how all books start on the right side of the fold)

Any ideas? Hope this is not too confusing.

View, uncheck two page view. Go to page 11, insert, section, check begin section
with this page, start at page 1. Go back to insert, page numbers. Go to page 12,
insert page number. After that all the pages will be numbered automatically. You
can turn on two page spread.

View > Two-Page Spread
Follow the procedure
View > Two-Page Spread.

Granted that this did work, there’s one other thing.

Now I have 2 sections, 1 to 10 and 1 to 300. But when I insert the page
numbers, that is exactly how it numbers them 1,2,3…10 then 1,2,3…300. The
problem is that I do not want to see page numbers on that first section of 10
pages, but I do want to see numbers on the second set of pages. Is there any
way to do this or is it all or nothing.

Thank You!!

I have two sections in a handbook. One section uses page numbers, one
doesn't. I put a footer with page numbers on the master pages for the
section with numbers, and no footer on the other.
