I'm in Excel2001 for mac and I have a cell i want to display on screen
but not to print out. The helper says if I edit the cell inside the
cell it should still display but not print, but with cell editing on
or off in my preferences it hides it on screen either way.

Well, one way is with the camera tool. Place the actual cell somewhere else
on the sheet outside of the print area. Then using the camera tool take a
picture of the cell and place the picture where you want to see it on the
screen. Then format the picture so it does not print.

There should be a DOESNT PRINT check box in the cell formatting

If you think you'd like a new feature in Excel, simply go the help menu and
choose send feedback on Excel. Your requests are read and evaluated by
Microsoft and influence contents of future releases.

Well, I finally got a chance to get back on this project and I looked
all over and searched help and they don't say anything about a camera
tool

To find this tool, you'll have to open the "Customize..." window (find it
from the "View" Menu, "Toolbars" sub-menu)

In this window, click the "Commands" tab. In the list on the left, click on
the "Tools" category and on the right, you'll fint (the one befor last) the
camera tool. Drag and drop that tool on a Toolbar and close the window.

Now you can use it to "take pictures":

Select a group of cells, then click on the Camera tool (you'll hear a sound)
and now the cursor should change to a small cross. Just click somewhere to
see a picture of your selection.

I haven't seen this described in the Help files. But didn't search
thoroughly, I must say.
